Hi all this is my 1st blog in like...forever. I've said it before and I'll say it again I'm not a huge writer kinda girl but the Artistic Bloggers out there have inspired me to adventure into these waters again.

so yesterday was sunday and on one of the blogs that I was reading there was a sunday sketch blog thingy so I was inspired to sketch and to post. Ahhhhh.... but alas my post did not make it there on sunday so here is my sunday sketch on monday :)It is my very 1st ZENTANGLE. I was looking at this and this and this and was inspired to try. I found it very very relaxing and so fun and I think there could be many ways I could use this type of art in my canvases and maybe even use it on redoing furniture... ? Who knows But I liked it so here it is. And this is the color version of it...what do ya think?

So I've been meaning to blog for the longest time but... I keep finding other things to do since writing is not one of my favorite creative endeavors. It's one of the things I push to the back burner.

With that said I do however like the way this blog allows me to share parts of my life with family and friends who don't live here by me.

So.... to the left the scrapbook page is my intro to our newest family member "Jeff the god of biscuits" Jeff for short! Isn't he just the cutest? He's definantly still a kitten because he is still a little wild man...I'd forgotten how wild kittens really are!!!LOL :) But he's also so cuddly when he's tired.

Also there are 2 new "People" members or our extended family one on my side of the house (my cousin amanda's 1st baby)and one on Aaron's side (his brother's new baby) they were born a week apart.

The picture with me in red is of my Cousin amanda's new baby Addison Kaye she was 4 days old in that picture. So way cute!!! The other picture is of Aaron and his younger brother Tristan with little Olivia Jean. Aaron is holding her and Tristan is being silly with his camera :) She too is a cutie patootie!!! This pic was taken a few hours after she was born she still had all the gross stuff on her. But I promise she is really cute!!!

Well other than all the new life that has been popping up all over this 1st couple months of 2008 not much new is going on with me. I'm still teaching during the week but my true love is my weekend creative time... I've been trying to create something every weekend whether scrapping related or just painting something...This is a project I made for a very good friend of mine Jen. they were boxes that I had saved jsut because I thought I could turn them into something . I thought they would be cute shadow boxes for pictures or whatever... They turned out pretty cute I think . And I've got 3 more boxes if I want to make some for me :) LOL

when I'm messing around in my room I'm just so happy and peaceful it's hard to explain...? But that's who I am. Yes MOM I was born to make a mess and I'm still at 33.5 years later!!! You can see more of my work and layouts on a website called

the after christmas tales...

So this year for christmas Aaron and I got each other a new couch...LOL Dang it!!!!! I"m officially a grown up now. CRAP... how did that happen?

Anyway we really love the new sectional it's so comfy and soft. It has recliners on both ends so it's very nice I can sit back on one end and read a book or mag with the little light the bends over me and the Big A can watch tv in the almost dark like he likes. It's a win win!!

The curtains in the background I found at Pier 1 but I'm going to find a Red sash kinda thing for over the top and hanging down on the sides. The big green pillow will be covered as soon as I find the right color of fabric. I'm looking for a red. The color scheme will be Tan, chocolate brown,Red and A hint of Gold .
I know you are saying well what are you going to do about the horrible BLUE carpet That totally doesn't work? Well the plan is to not be in this house for too much longer and all of these new things will move with us to the new place. But I do have a plan for the mean time. I'm currently on the search for a large area rug to go in front of the couch area. Then I need to finish painting some more art work for the walls .

Here is one of the ones I 've finished to go with the new scheme of things. The picture doesn't really show off the full effect of the painting. I used a bronze metallic type of paint for the Treble clef and the dots on the painting so they kinda shine.

This last picture is of our cat Lenny on the day they delivered the couch. The old couch was kinda Ozzie's domain and Lenny never really got too comfy on it or OZ would have something to say about it!! hee hee But Lenny has staked his claim on this new couch. the arm that he is sitting on in this picture that is where I find him sleeping when I get home in the evenings. He is so cute some times I can't even stand it. LOL!!!

We are going to be getting a new kitten next weekend. Lenny has seemed to be bored and kinda lonely so I'm hoping this will be a good thing for him. And maybe...just maybe... he'll stop waking us up at 5 in the morning with his sad little howls...

Goodbye to my friend...

For the last couple of months our cat Ozzie had been losing weight. We took him to the vet and they checked him out and couldn't find anything wrong so we took him home. There were times when he seemed to be getting better...but I guess really he wasn't.

The last week or so it was plain that he wasn't gonna make it. In hindsight I suppose we should've made the choice a week or more ago...but I guess we just hoped he'd pull out of it. This morning when we woke up and realized he couldn't even jump up on the bed we made the choice to put him to sleep. It was so hard and sad and just....horrible.

Aaron and I have cried alot today and will always love him but I'm sure he's up in kitty heaven pickin' his favorite Fridge to sit on and he's probably pickin' out an angel or 2 to sleep by.(He'll probably sleep right between to pillows like he did with us)

Rest well my little boy I'll always love you,I'll never forget you and I miss you so much already.

Living in a WINTER WONDER LAND

This week has been full of winter-ee weather!! Last weekend we had a ton of ice!! It was beautiful but slippery!!!! I went out in the yard and snapped a few pictures. This one is of our neighbors bird feeder that is sorta in our yard. I thought it was too cute how the ice hung off of it all icicle like. LOL

That was the 1st part of the week now starting last night we got snow!!! WOOHOO I LOVE LOVE LOVE SNOW!!!!! I do ...but Aaron does NOT!!!! It's one of the short list of things that he and I disagree on.

But even so he still came out with me today to get a few snow pictures :) Yea!!! He's the BEST!!!

I've been busy creating today....

I've been very inspired by all things colorful and bold... But while loving the idea of oil painting and such I by nature can't really be comfortable trying to create a Realistic piece.

So as I was visiting Elsie Flannigan's blog and then her Flickr site it hit me... I shouldn't even try to do realistic things with paint I should just stick with the cartoon-ish and whimsical things!!!Because those things flow out of me without having to learn a whole new style.

Well then I went into my Room of goodness(otherwise known as my scrapping/craftroom)LOL and I got some acrylic paints and sketched a quick drawing then got down to it...

this is what I made today.... A Big huge mess....haahaha...No no just kidding.

Here is the real thing The picture is of me and Aaron and our 2 cats and the fictional house That we'll have some day soon.

I used just regular acrylic paints like the ones you can buy for like 60 cents a piece at craft stores. It's painted on regular canvas board.

Ok...soooo....yeaaaaah...what to say?????What to say???? well I guess I'll post a pic of me!! Look it's over there <--------------------------------------------------- yep that's me taken a couple weeks ago nov 2007 My eye's aren't really blue they just turned out that way in the pic...!!! Weird Huh? I was getting ready to go to work that morning and The bush that is by my truck was flaming with autumn Color so I just had to get a picture or 2. Since I was the only one there i did the hold your arm out in front of you kinda thing.

So yeah this is me LESLIE.... I'm 33,marriedto Aaron(he's the best hubby ever) since 97,Child free,a scrapbooker, a crafty type person, a cat lover we have 2. Ozzie and Lenny, and the latest crafty type thing I've started doing is painting with oils. My grandma gave me a kinda crash course and then gave me a bunch of her stuff!!! I was totally excited!!!!

The first thing I did was look for a photo to paint and this was the one I used. I love the way the boys were sitting together looking out the door at the leaves falling. In the painting I changed the way they were sitting and the colors and shape of the door because..........well..........ya know.........creative license and all!!!LOL anyhow I was happy with the way it turned out. Aaron liked it too and he wrote a poem about it (cause I asked him to I plan on putting it in the negative space on the wall to the right of Ozzie)
Safe inside

Behind this door we sit and spy,
As the world goes passing by,

We watch the dogs walking around,
We watch the mice run on the ground,

we dream of birds cought in our jaws,
and climbing trees with our sharp claws,

But outside it's a scary place,
and we cats like a slower pace,
